Beginner Outdoorsman Course, Winter Edition via Zoom

In this course, you will be able to interact with a professional Maine Recreational Guide. They will go over a baseline of what you will need to bring with you on any outdoor excursion. Basic skills will be taught to mitigate risk, gear you may need, recommended areas for trailhead information will be provided, and most of all you will learn how to make your outdoor excursion safer than getting on 95 to get to where you are going!

Combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. In a one-hour class you will burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. You will need to bring water and a mat and wear comfortable clothes / shoes. 8 weeks (punch card)

Outdoor Cooking via Zoom 

This class is taught by a registered maine guide who is known for her field buffalo chicken calzone! Join in to learn some tried and true outdoor cooking methods and see one meal through. The class will receive an email with a few camp classics that they can prepare at will. While the instructor is making a dish, she will be chatting about how to utilize outdoor ethics (Leave No Trace) when preparing, cooking, and cleaning up after a meal.

Outdoor Hike Series

Attendance of at least 2 hikes would result in a Leave No Trace certificate for completion of an awareness course.  Come hike in a safe group and have fun! This series is aimed at safety during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a goal of creating new environmental stewards in the local area. Directions to the locations will be forwarded to participants one week prior to the outing. Masks must be worn and CDC guidelines will be followed. Must sign a fitness waiver and release form.

Hike 1: Plan ahead and prepare 

Saturday, March 27 - 10:30 - 12 pm - Location: Reed Brook Trail - 

Your guide will bring her pack and show you what she brings on a simple hike. - How being prepared reduces impact on the environment. - Learning objective: Feel confident on what to bring relative to your planned adventure. 

Hike 2: How to (you know what!) in the woods

Saturday, April 17 - 9 am - 12  pm - Location: Mount Waldo Trailhead -

Learning objective: Each hiker will learn how to effectively use the bathroom in the great outdoors in a manner that is globally accepted through the Leave No Trace organization. 

Hike 3: Let the sounds of nature prevail.

Saturday, May 15 -  9 am - 12 pm - Location: Great Pond Mountain Trailhead - 

Basic bird calls in Maine, bonus bird ID (bring your binoculars if you have them!) - Trail etiquette - Learning objective: Learn etiquette of enjoying the outdoors without affecting the experience of those around you. Maybe you will even learn a new bird call to boot!

Saturday, March 9 - Saturday, April 9 - Saturday, May 15
