Hampden-Tai Chi–Session 1

with Andy Stewart

Apr
1

April 1st to 29th, 2025

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art practiced in many styles. The “sun” style, which is the form Andy Stewart will be offering, has been the subject of rigorous scientific studies that reveal its health benefits, including cardiovascular support, improved muscle strength and flexibility, and increased balance for fall prevention. The practice entails a fluid movement and flow produced through the integration of mind and body. It has in fact been called “meditation in motion” and that phrase probably captures the essence of the practice better than any other. It is about balance, both physical and mental.

April 2nd to 23rd, 2025

In this class, Mya-Lisa King will use mindfulness, meditation, and visualization techniques to guide you in navigating difficult emotions and negative thought patterns, to discover the deep well of possibility within you. Research has shown that mindfulness increases the neuroplasticity of the brain, and can help with sleeplessness, stress, fatigue, anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout. This class is designed for all those seeking to explore the space beyond habitual thought and reaction, a place of self-compassion, inner wisdom and joy.
